Traveling South Africa; The Eastern Cape

The "Wild Coast" on the Eastern Cape of South Africa

I took an interest in South Africa in high school. I love the history and the overall beauty of the country and want to share the tourism options and experiences in the country in hopes of having others take interest in this amazing country. In this post I want to take a look at some of the parks that would be of interest to pretty much everyone.

Addo Elephant National Park

The Addo Elephant National Park is the 3rd largest national park in the country of South Africa measuring in at 633 square miles. The park has amazing opportunities to see a wide variety of wildlife including: Elephants, Zebras, Rhinos, Lions, Cape Buffalo, and some uncommon animals like Great White Sharks and multiple different species of Whale are seen off of the shores of the park. Along with the breath taking wildlife, there are many other activities to do. You can spend your time there taking in breathtaking views on the off-road trails and safaris, or take a horse back ride through the mountains. No matter what you like to do there will always be something to do and something new to see in the park. An estimated 160,000 people visit the park annually, when compared to a place like the Grand Canyon which averages five million people a year, you would have a very personal experience with the park.

Tsitsikamma National Park

The Tsitsikamma national park is located right on the coast of the eastern cape has something to do for everybody. There are a plethora of amazing views in the park with a large amount of activities that can be peaceful or adrenaline pumping. There is a marine wildlife reserve in the park that allows visitors in-depth interactions with aquatic species. Besides the animals, there are trails for horse back riding and mountain biking that can feed an adventurous personality. This park has many accommodations and food experiences that pretty much anybody can find enjoyable.

The Garden Route

I can see how this might be seen as somewhat of an "advertisement." I am not trying to sell you a trip to the Eastern Cape, I am more trying to sell you on the country of South Africa as a whole. It is an amazing country that everyone should know about and I believe would grow to love.
